The Canon RF 35 mm F1.8 Macro IS STM is a versatile, compact prime lens designed for Canon’s EOS R (RF-mount) mirrorless cameras. With its bright f/1.8 aperture, it performs well in low-light conditions and gives great control over depth of field — ideal for street, travel, and environmental portraits. One of its standout features is its macro capability: it offers up to 0.5× (1:2) magnification, letting you focus as close as 0.17 m (17 cm) to your subject. This makes it great not only for wide-angle shots, but also for close-up detail work on flowers, food, and small objects.To help with camera shake, the lens includes a 5-stop Hybrid IS (image stabilizer) that combines optical stabilization with compatible camera body stabilization for very steady handheld shots.Autofocus is driven by a quiet STM (stepping) motor, which is smooth and nearly silent — good for both stills and video.  The lens also has a customizable control ring, enabling on-lens adjustment of ISO, exposure compensation, or other settings.Optically, it’s built with 11 elements in 9 groups, including aspherical and other advanced elements, and features Super Spectra Coating to minimize ghosting and flare.
